About
I lived in Provence for 15 years on the Mediterranean banks in a small town called Sanary Sur Mer, between Toulon and Marseille. This town is well known in Europe for its fishing harbor with boats called “pointus”, its palm trees, petanque players, and beautiful buildings. My mother’s family is from Nice (named Nike by the ancient Greeks; a word for victory). In 1910, my great grandfather was the first pastry chef in Nice and he was called: “le patissier des paysans” (the pastry cook of the peasants) because they came from the countryside each Sunday to buy the pastries for the Sunday lunch. Because my family owned a beach house in Sanary Sur Mer, I spent all of my vacations there and even had the chance to live there later in life.
The life-changing decision to move to the USA and work as a teacher in a wonderful school has been something I have enjoyed every day. Because my memories of Provence are so wonderful, I had to find a way to share them with my new country and community of friends in the USA. In 1999, I found a way to share my background, cultural experiences, and a touch of Provence with the Northwest by importing Provencal fabrics and kitchen linens. All the patterns you will see on my tablecloths are a symbol of Provencal culture: olives, mimosas, poppies, lemons, cecadas, wheat, and lavender represent the essence of this region that I cherish and love. My online store specializes in coated tablecloths to combine the beauty and quality of the products that you will love! My indoor and outdoor tablecloths will brighten your home and bring a wonderful vibrance to all of your special occasions. Also, last year I decided to import adorable dresses from Provence because so many of my customers kept asking me for Provencal clothing for children.
The name of my business is Les Couleurs de Provence (the colors of Provence). It is my desire to capture the beauty of the Provencal villages and countryside and share them with you. Every fabric and pattern reminds me of the vivid colors, the fragrances, and the inspiring landscapes of Provence. I truly hope that you will enjoy my web site and my Provencal products.
Sincerely,
Mireille
