(Click on the image for additional views)This pattern is called cigales / olive (cicada and olive) after an insect that lives for 2-5 years in the ground and then lives 5 to 6 weeks outside of the ground before dying. In France, the cicada is used to represent the folklore of Provence and other Mediterranean cities. The cicada is a summer insect that has come to represent a carefree approach to life. In fact, one of Aesop’s fables (The Cicada and the Ant) share the story of the cicada who spends the summer singing while the ant stores away food, and when the cold winter comes the cicada has no food.
This tablecloth has a 70 inch diameter and will fit a variety of round (and even square tables) with a diameter of less than 65 inches.
